Signal 1 — Lower Highs + Lower Lows (LH/LL)30 pts max
The most basic but most powerful bearish signal. Shows sellers gaining control incrementally — buyers are no longer defending levels.
What the algorithm looks for:
Scans the full session candle by candle. Each time price makes a lower high AND a lower low vs the previous swing, it counts as one "step." Two or more steps = pattern detected. Three or more steps = high confidence.
Active (30pts) — 3+ steps AND most recent candle broke the last low (within 3 candles)
Active (20pts) — 2 steps confirmed and recently active
Developing (10pts) — Pattern detected but not in recent candles
0pts — No stair-step structure
Best setup: Occurs after a failed breakout attempt or rejection at resistance.

Signal 2 — Failed Breakout (Bull Trap)25 pts max
One of the highest probability put signals. Price breaks above a resistance level — trapping breakout buyers — then reverses hard back below.
What the algorithm looks for:
Checks every resistance level on the chart. Looks for a candle that closed above the level (breakout), then within 1–3 candles a red candle closes back below it. The reversal candle must be red and close meaningfully below the level.
Active (25pts) — Trap confirmed within last 4 candles
Recent (12pts) — Trap detected but not in most recent candles
0pts — No failed breakout found
Why it works: Traps breakout buyers who are now underwater → forced selling accelerates the downside move.

Signal 3 — Momentum Shift (Red Impulse)25 pts max
Watch for velocity change, not just direction. The first aggressive sell candle often signals institutional activity entering the market.
What the algorithm looks for:
Calculates the average body size of the last 10 candles. If a red candle appears with a body 2x or larger than that average, it qualifies as an impulse. Checks last 3 candles.
Confirmed (25pts) — Impulse candle + next candle is also red OR a weak bounce (body ratio under 35%)
Active (15pts) — Impulse candle in last 2 candles, no confirmation yet
Developing (8pts) — Impulse detected but older than 3 candles
0pts — No impulse candle found
Key insight: Small choppy candles → sudden large red candle = smart money selling.

Puts only — why no calls?
These 3 signals are specifically designed to identify bearish setups. Darkhorse's edge on put trades comes from identifying institutional selling pressure early.
LH/LL shows the macro bearish structure.
Bull Trap shows trapped buyers who become forced sellers.
Momentum Shift shows when institutions enter aggressively.
When all three align, you have structure + a catalyst + institutional confirmation.

Options selection logic
When a signal fires, the brain scans all puts within 60 pts of ATM and scores each:
Strike score = Delta×50 + Gamma×1000 + Proximity bonus
Best strike = highest score with Delta 0.30–0.55 (ideal 0DTE range).
Entry = live bid/ask · Stop = -15% · T1 = +25% · T2 = +40% · Runner = +67%

Pre-trade checklist
Entry conditions — all 4 required
1 — Price at key S/R level
Within 5–10 pts of a pre-marked level. No level = no trade.
2 — Pattern identified
Double bottom/top, bounce, breakdown, flag, or rejection wick.
3 — Candle confirms direction
Green close for calls, red close for puts. Body ratio > 35%.
4 — Valid time window
9:45–11:30 AM or 1:00–3:30 PM only. Avoid lunch chop.

Pre-market routine
1 — Mark yesterday's levels
Prior day high, low, close. Round numbers near these = strongest S/R zones.
2 — Check overnight futures
Overnight high/low often act as magnets. Note gaps — they fill often on 0DTE.
3 — Pick 3 key levels
3 round-number SPX levels within 1–2% of price. Write before open.
4 — Check macro calendar
Fed, CPI, earnings? High-impact = reduce size or skip entirely.
5 — Set daily max loss
Decide max loss BEFORE bell. Hit it = done for the day. No exceptions.
Entry triggers
CALL — Bounce off support
Price hits support → rejection candle → next candle green → BTO calls.
PUT — Breakdown
Price breaks support with momentum → confirmation red candle → BTO puts.
Double bottom = high probability call
Two lows within 8pts, higher middle. Second low in last 6 candles. Enter on green close above neckline.
Flip rule
Call stopped out + price breaking down = valid put entry. Don't hold bias.
Trade management
Set hard stop immediately
10–15% below entry. Do this before anything else. Non-negotiable.
Set T1 target
+20–25% above entry. Sell 60% here automatically — every single trade.
Watch price not P&L
Manage by SPX levels. P&L-watching causes emotional exits.
Never average down
Down 8%? Do NOT buy more. That's how losses become account blowups.
3 losses = stop for the day
After 3 consecutive losers, close the laptop. Come back tomorrow.
3-layer exit system
T1 — Sell 60% at +20–25%
Mandatory every trade. This one rule makes the strategy profitable over time.
T2 — Sell 12–20% at +35–45%
On strong trending moves. Runner is now psychologically free money.
T3 — Runner to +60%+
Hold remaining. Exit if drops 20% from peak or at 3:45 PM hard cutoff.
Stop loss — Full exit at -10 to -15%
One disciplined stop protects a week of gains. Never widen it.
5 unbreakable rules
1 — Never break your stop
Stop = exit. No "one more candle." The stop exists because you set it before emotion.
2 — Never chase a missed trade
Move already ran 15+ pts? Gone. There is always another setup.
3 — Lock in T1 every time
Consistent partials beat occasional home runs. Every. Single. Trade.
4 — Execute the playbook
You are following darkhorse's proven method — not improvising your own.
5 — Your data shows 80% win rate
3/23 session proved it. The strategy works. Execute it cleanly each day.
